Bluebell, Buttercup and Daffodil Blog 28th November 2025

Happy Friday Everybody!

The children have had a busy week with nativity rehearsals. A letter will be sent home on Monday in regards to costumes. If you are able to donate or lend any this would be greatly appreciated.

We have a busy week with the pantomime trip on Tuesday and church visit on Friday. Please remember children need to be at school at 8:30 on Tuesday with a Christmas jumper to put on over their uniform. We are aiming to leave the school at 9 and should be returning for lunch around 1pm.

Remember next week the children will have their Forest School sessions. The children can come into school in their Forest School clothes but will need to bring a spare change of shoes for after.

Maths Home work

Year 1 - This week we have been learning about length and would like the children to complete the double sided length sheet in their bag.

Bluebell, Buttercup and Daffodil Blog 21st November 2025

Happy Friday Everybody!

The children were very excited to have their first Forest School session this week, despite the cold, windy weather. They all enjoyed exploring the area, den building and drinking the hot chocolate that we made to keep them warm!

There is no Forest School next week because I am teaching in class. Forest School will be taking place once a fortnight for each class (when I am not teaching in class) and will continue throughout the year. Please see the newsletter for some lovely photographs of the children enjoying their sessions this week.

Our next sessions will be Wednesday 26th November for Daffodil Class and Tuesday 16th December for Bluebell and Buttercup Class (There is no session on 2nd December because we are all at the pantomime).

Going forward, the children can come into school in their Forest School clothes with their waterproofs or a change of clothes in their bags, just in case they get wet or muddy, otherwise they can stay in them. Thank you so much for your support. We hadn't anicipated that so many children would come to school with waterproof trousers or suits and didn't want them to sit in wet, muddy clothes for the rest of the day but lots of children came to Forest School wrapped up warmly for the cold weather and in full waterproofs. It really is greatly appreciated and allows the children to be warm and comfortable when taking part in the sessions.

Don't forget, if you need a Christmas gift idea, a camping mug will be put to very good use at Forest School. We will be having hot chocolate drinks and haomemade soups to keep us warm during the colder months! The is not an essential item (we have some cups!) It's just a gift idea for those that want it.

Buttercup, Bluebell and Dafodil Blog - Friday 14th November 2025

Happy Friday Everybody!

Our apologies if the children came home a little 'chocolatey' on Tuesday and Wednesday this week! We have been exploring how heat can effect different materials and investigated the melting point of chocolate by holding it in our hands. The children had great fun licking it off!

Forest school starts next week for Key Stage 1. Bluebell and Buttercup Class have a session each on Tuesday and Daffodil Class have their session on Wednesday. Can the children please wear their school uniform to school and bring a change of clothes and wellies in a bag with them. We need them to change for the sessions so that they don't sit in wet or muddy clothes all day! It would be unfair to expect parents to buy full waterproof clothing this close to Christmas and the shelter isn't quite as far along as we had hoped. We will review the situation after Christmas. In the meantime, if you need an idea for a Christmas gift, a camping mug will be put to very good use at Forest School. We will be having hot chocolate drinks to keep us warm during the winter months! The is not an essential, must have item (we have some cups!) It's just a gift idea for those that want it.

Buttercup, Bluebell and Daffodil blog Friday 7th November 2025

Happy Friday Everybody!

We hope you all had a fantastic half term break. This week in English, we have been using props to retell the story 'Shark in the Dark' in preparation for writing our own versions of the story next week. In Maths, the children in Year 1 have been finding all the number bonds for different numbers to 10 whilst the children in Year 2 have been subtracting single digit numbers from a two digit number. We have also finished painting and decorating our Diyas. The children will bring them home next week when they are dry.

Sadly the hen rehome has been cancelled again! This is due to circumstances beyond The British Hen Welfare Trusts control. We are now on a waiting list for a future rehome of caged hens, but it is unlikely to be this year now, given that avian flu is affecting may chicken farmers.
