 Welcome to Tuesday's blog. I hope you are finding all the links for the week being on Monday's blog easier to navigate. Just 2 quick announcements for today:

Firstly, please do not be daunted by the amount of work presented to you. All schools are compelled to provide 3-4 hours of home learning every day as part of Government guidelines to support education during lockdown. That does not mean we expect you to do 3-4 hours every day. If you can, great but if not do not feel guilty about this. It may be you only focus on English or Maths on the busy days, that's why having all the links on one blog should make life easier. Also do not feel that every lesson needs recording. If your child just watches the videos and does not do any written aspect of the learning, again this is absolutely fine.

Secondly, please email us again at some point this week. We need to hear from you once a week so we know that you are all doing fine. We will be phoning anyone we do not hear from on the following Monday, so it helps us immeasurably if you could spare 2 minutes to email us how you are.

Sumdog

As mentioned in our general update email last week, Sumdog is a fun way of helping your child's mental maths skills. All children have their own login (email us if you can't find it) and the questions are personalised to your child's ability. If they answer the questions correctly they get harder, if they answer some incorrectly they get easier. Because of this, please resist the urge to give your child the answer as it will make the next question harder!

Next week we are looking to have an online event where all the children (and teachers) can go on Sumdog at the same time, which means we have a good chance of playing against each other. We will post when this will be in a blog later this week. Here is the link to get practising:

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any support or advice. We will still put out blogs on other days if there is any other information we need to convey to you so keep an eye on the front page of the school website. Please bear in mind that there is never a "one-size fits all" approach to learning - different children will have different needs and interests so feel free to tailor lessons accordingly. For example, you might find your child is more interested in finding out about the different animals that live on a continent in geography - this is fine.

Stay strong and please invest time in ensuring your child keeps engaged in some forms of learning as it will aid their transition back into school life when it comes. And it will come!

Try and complete some work each day but don't forget some "you-time" too! How you approach home learning will be unique to you - you know what will and what will not work. Below is a possible structure that your day could take if this approach works for you:

Use your maths homework book to review the concepts we have covered so far. Practise the same sort of thing with different numbers. As normal, you can do an extra page each week - we will direct you which page to do on Friday's blog.
