Hello everyone :)
We hope you are all having a lovely week despite the weather not being as nice!
Following on from last week, we are going to be looking at collage artwork today in preparation for creating our fish masterpieces in a few weeks. The aim of today is investigating different materials and how we can manipulate them to change their shape by cutting, tearing, arranging and layering into an outline to complete a collage picture.
Firstly the children need to go on a material hunt around the house to see how many materials on the list they can find.
Household material list:
Once the children have collected as many materials as they can, you can discuss how they look and feel, this is a great way for the children to create a word bank of different adjectives to describe the materials.
For the creative part of today's task, I would like the children to use the different materials to make a collage. This does not have to be a fish collage, the children can either make a collage on a plain piece of paper or draw a shape and fill it using different materials. This is an opportunity for the children to explore the materials to see how they can use them to create different shapes and patterns. I have put some examples below.
